About Me:

I am a... completely not-average female from the United States, and I've been drawing for longer than I can remember. I'd tried taking art classes, but they bored me to death. I was originally inspired to pursue a more comic/anime style by the animation Avatar: The Last Airbender when I was in fifth grade, which started me down the path I'm on today.

I've always loved to tell stories, whether in writing or in image-form, and I've always loved to make people smile. People always told me that me sense of humor would be great for comics, and that I should start a webcomic. I'd always considered doing it, and I had a pretty fair amount of experience in web design, and as it turned out, I ended up making a webcomic (and coding the whole thing!). And I love drawing comics--WAY more than I'd anticipated. I plan on going to school for digital animation.

About Quasi Cake:

Quasi Cake was inspired based on a doodle that I did in a notebook during English class, which ended up turning into a few pages of comics (only one of which I ever made for the webcomic--Algebra 2). Mayple and Zero had been characters I'd had for a long time, and whose personalities had grown and flourished into what they are now over the course of a few years. Emella hadn't originally been in the comic--instead there was Karma, who I'd put in there simply to make a trio (she's also the one who made our TVTopes). I'd drawn Karma in a couple of comics before based on what had gone on in some chats, and figured I'd throw her in. I'd figured it'd be weird if I actually used her in the comic, and then a friend of mine with a laughing disorder had inspired Emella. Her design was done in a Science notebook in a matter of minutes.

Ironically enough, every character who has appeared in Quasi Cake is a real person (an exaggerated version of that person, but still!). Even better, the voices of the trio were voiced by the people who inspired them. Those who have cameo'd are real too. Most of the comics are inspired by real events--usually with different people, but everything can be related back to May, Em, and Zero. It just proves you can't look for inspiration--it comes to you!

About Looking for a Title:

When I'd bought the domain for Quasi Cake, it had originally just been for Quasi Cake. However, I'd never really done anything with it, and needed something to kick off my... getting-ready-to-draw-comics-all-the-time mode. Title had been my solution, and it'd come about in an interesting way. I'd stumbled across a TMM fic I'd joint-written with a friend a couple of years ago, and I read it the whole way through. There had been huge potential for a great plot in it, but it was just plain cheesy. I'd ended up doodling this (which MAY OR MAY NOT contain spoilers) after reading it, and BAM I realized I wanted to revamp everything and draw a comic of it.

I think Mana, Ryou, and the Aliens are the only ones who DIDN'T get a massive revamp from the original aside from an updated appearance. I threw away all of the Mews I'd made, and struggled so hard to design good ones. The Aliens really are my favorite members of the cast--they're just so fun to draw.

About The Elves of Sylvarant:

Tales of Symphonia has always been my favorite. Game. Always. Forever. I love it so much. I don't actually even remember anymore what inspired this series--I think it was all the loopholes there were about the non-Desian half-elves living in Sylvarant. And then I thought, "OH!" and figured I could tell about a Chosen journey. Then I went "OH!" again and realized that I could make it the FIRST Chosen (Spiritua wasn't the first--I checked!). And then a THIRD "OH!" and I started to replay the game, grabbing every detail about the history that I could in order to shape what I then created as Elves.

The Elves cast is just... I love them all so much. I created Evander first, and decided that this was a comic I was going to put a LOT of effort into, and so I went for complex character designs. They were all incredibly difficult to design (except Octavian, he was effortless for some reason), and I have draft after draft of costumes and character ideas. I even wanted the characters to be perfected, and so I joined deviantART roleplays with a few of them to develop their characters more. I really just can't wait to release it.

About Harland Vere: Ace Attorney:

This one had a very strange source of inspiration. I'd been watching a movie, and I saw the name Harland in the credits (because I'm cool like that and I read the credits to movies), and I found it an interesting name when I saw it, and made an effort to remember it. Then I started thinking "Huh... that'd be a neat name for an attorney..." (I'd recently finished Apollo Justice a this point) and then his last name came about five hours later, and his character design not long after that. I've restarted this particular project MANY times, and for a while my Harland art had been some of my best (and my new art for it is some of my best, too!).

One day I'd picked it up again and realized, "Hm. I can... make an interesting cast for this." And then I started recycling some old characters of mine and solving some of their mysteries, and I started to develop Harland along with them, and, well, he ended up being accompanied by a large and still-being-developed cast. The coding is really tough, but I'm really excited to release the first case.

About Future Comics:

Pai has limitless amounts of comic ideas, and some of them have been developed more than others, and I'm simply trying to improve my art before I tackle them as an actual project due to the amount of detail and character art that they require. Title is likely to be the first comic on the site to end, and when it does--fear not! Another comic shall come right on in behind it.
